Meet the Artist

John was born in 1975 and began drawing at an early age. His enduring passion for portraying wildlife soon developed. Later he attended grammar school where his singular enthusiasm for pencil work was often viewed as a constraint and actively discouraged in the light of a curriculum with a broad scope. John recalls the day when “My art teacher took me aside and rather sternly informed me that monochrome artwork didn’t sell and I should concentrate on developing my painting skills” John concluded that his artistic skills did not provide the foundation for a career, gave up drawing and gained employment in the banking industry.
However, John always retained his passion for wildlife art and about ten years ago he felt the urge to pick up a pencil again.
He endeavors to capture the essence of his subjects using every grade of graphite pencil. A perfectionist by nature, he draws his subjects with meticulous attention to every detail and it takes him countless hours to create a piece of work with which he is satisfied.
Recently John decided that the world of banking was not for him and he wished to pursue his lifelong ambition of becoming a professional artist.
With the launch of this website John is on his way to realizing this ambition. He has already produced a number of limited edition prints for sale and he has been commissioned to produce a variety of drawings. He was a finalist in the highly prestigious David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation “Wildlife Artist of the Year” exhibition at the London Mall Galleries in 2010 and 2012. He was privileged to actually meet David Shepherd whom he names as one of his biggest inspirations.
John is now focused on adding to his selection of limited edition prints and regular updates about works in progress will be posted on this site. John also aims to provide a unique bespoke service for clients who wish to commission a piece of artwork.
